Hollywood Star - Granicus - 1973
Celluloid Heroes - Kinks - 1972
Today a pair of song musically very different but joined by lyric's argument: the Hollywood's way of life between reality, fiction and lies.
Hollywood Star, by Granicus, is a straight-ahead hard rockin but with a frustration and a remorse that you don't expect in mid '70 hard rock; a proto Henry Rollins number.
Celluloid heroes by Kinks is simply one of the best Ray Davies' text (maybe one of the best in Brit Pop...), complete with a perfect sweet melancholy in the music; lyrics like:
I wish my life was a non-stop Hollywood movie show,
A fantasy world of celluloid villains and heroes,
Because celluloid heroes never feel any pain
And celluloid heroes never really die.
A fantasy world of celluloid villains and heroes,
Because celluloid heroes never feel any pain
And celluloid heroes never really die.
should only be taught in schools.
